Biography

Charles Crapisi is born Vincenzo Crapisi in Castelvetrano, Sicily, Italy, on 10 March 1889[1] , the son of Giacomo "Jack" Crapisi and Catherine Palermo Crapisi, a married couple. His date of birth appears on his WWI draft card, his 1923 naturalization, and in the record of his death. His parents are named in the record of his death, and appear with him on ship manifests and in the 1920 census.

Note: According to Bill feather, Charles Crapisi, the Kansas City narcotics dealer and bootlegger, is born Salvatore Crapisi in Corleone around 1886. The nearest match in the baptismal records for Corleone is Salvatore Crapisi, born in 1882, who emigrates to Kansas City, Missouri, in 1914, joining his father-in-law there. Salvatore is the son of Vito Crapisi and Vincenza Salemi.

On the SS Liguria, sailing from Palermo on 22 February 1908 and arriving in the port of New Orleans, these passengers from Castelvetrano (born and last resided) are listed in series:
