Biography
Wiley Simeon Cozart was born 1853 in Granville County, North Carolina to Allen Cozart & Sarah Rogers. He passed away 30 Apr 1936 in Stem, Tally Ho Township, Granville, North Carolina.[1]
Allen Cozart, father of Simeon, died on 7 Jul 1861 in Granville County, North Carolina, without a will.
On 9 Dec 1861, "We the undersigned met at the residence of Allen Cozart deceased, according to an order of court, and allotted the Negroes of the said Allen Cozart deceased as follows, (viz)…..
Lot No. 6 to Simeon Cozart as follows: James $800, Cruner $50, Nanny $125, Hillman $350 = $1325.……
given under our hands & seals Month & date shown written. No. 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9, 10 & 12 to remain in common [because these lots were assigned to minor children].

The obituary of W.S. Cozart in The News & Observer of 1 May 1936 named his spouse, Virginia Bacon Cozart, his 7 surviving children, and his brother James T. Cozart.[3]
