Cornelius was baptized on May 3, 1783, in the Reformed Dutch Church of Freehold and Middletown, Monmouth County, New Jersey, recorded as the child of Cornelius Covenhoven and Jane Denise. No witnesses were recorded.[1][2][3]
His parents were Cornelius Roelof van Couwenhoven and his wife Jannetje Denyse. He married Mary Stoutenburg on March 9, 1807, in his hometown. They had three children during their marriage. He died as a young father on April 11, 1817, in Freehold, New Jersey, at the age of 33, and was buried in Holmdel, New Jersey.
At his baptism and marriage he was recorded with the last name Covenhoven, but his probate Letters of Administration and his gravestone show his last name as Conover.

Cornelius R. Conover died on April 11, 1817, in Freehold, New Jersey, when he was 33 years old.[7][2][3][6]

Cornelius is buried at the Holmdel Cemetery and Mausoleum in Holmdel, Monmouth County, New Jersey,[7]
