Biography

Charles Count was born in Yorkshire, England.

Charles was born in 1880. His parents were Frank Count and Fanny Spencer.^[1]

Charles grew up living with his parents and siblings in George Street, Wombwell.^[2][3][4][5] This area of Wombwell was known locally as "the square". It consisted of rows of terrace houses which were demolished in the 1950s when a new council estate was built in the town. This area is now a public car park.

Charles married Mary McCarthy in 1915.^[6]

Wombwell is in the heart of the South Yorkshire coal field. Charles, like his father and many other men in the area was a coal miner.

Charles and Mary eventually settled on the outskirts of Wombwell and lived at Wombwell Lane, Stairfoot, Barnsley, Yorkshire.^[7] They did not have children. Mary passed away in 1948.^[8]

Charles passed away on 28 October 1960. ^[9]
