Biography
Manuel Cottonreader is a part of US Black heritage.
Manuel was born about 1846 in Alabama. He is the son of Willis Cottonreader.
Emanuel Cottonreader married Frances Walker on 31 Jan 1870 in Caddo, Louisiana.[1]
The 1870 census of Shreveport, Caddo, Louisiana reported Manuel Cottonreader 24 M B farmer b. AL and Frances Walker Cottonreader 21 F B b. LA in the household of Willis 66 and Adelia 33 Cottonreader.[2]
Perhaps, the marriage did not suit them, for a Francis Walker B F 30 b. LA appeared in the 1880 census of Fifth Ward, Landry, Louisiana as a servant in the household of E. J. Goings W M 44 saddler b. LA.[3]
On 3 Feb 1874, Emanuel Cottonreader married Laura Rabia in Harrison, Texas,[4] after a marriage license dated 20 Jan 1874.[5]
The 1880 census of 6th Ward, Caddo, Louisiana reported E. T. Cottonreader B M 34 school teacher b. AL and Laura N. Cottonreader Mu F 29 keeping house b. TX, with Emory B M 6 and Mitty B F 4.[6]
Emanuel T. Cottonreader apparently died after the 1880 census and before 1900, probably in Caddo, Louisiana.
