Biography
Born at Cheadle, Staffordshire, England, [1]Albert was the son of John Cotton & Sarah Bettany.
Albert is found living at Stoke upon Trent, Staffordshire with his parents and 3 sisters in 1871[2]and in Caverswall, Staffordshire, England with his paternal grandmother, Ann Blurton, and 2 siblings on the 1881 census.[3]
He immigrated to Canada about 1882[4] and married Harriott Susannah Whitlock at Medicine Hat, Alberta in 1888 and lived at Lethbridge, Alberta.[5] Harriett died April 1, 1895 at Lethbridge, Alberta[6] and Albert remarried to Geraldine Florence Cookman and had 5 children.
They moved to British Columbia in 1903[7] at Vancouver, British Columbia in 1911 with 4 children and a servant.[8]
Albert founded and operated the Cotton Shingle Mill, in South Vancouver.[9][10] He died in 1926 at Vancouver, British Columbia[11] and is buried at Mountain View Cemetery[12]
