Alexander Cossey was born about 1896 at Elsternwick, Colony of Victoria, Australia. He was the son of James Cossey and Lena Werner[1].
On 29 April 1918, Alexander Cossey, baker born 27 March 1896[2] at Elsternwick, Victoria enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force for service in WWI. He was allocated the service number 55127. Alexander indicated his next of kin was his remarried mother, Mrs Eleana Cargill of Korrelocking, Western Australia and his present address as care of Mrs Leffler of 93 Cambridge Street, Collingwood, Victoria[3].
Alexander embarked for overseas service onboard the H.M.A.S "Orontes" from Sydney on 5 June 1918 and arrived at Liverpool England on 11 August 1918. He was originally allocated to reinforcements for the 60th Battalion from the 14th Training Battalion but then allocated to reinforcements for the 8th Battalion on 2 October 1918.
Alexander Cossey left England to return to Australia via the "Suevic" on 23 July 1919 and was discharged in Australia on 15 September 1919.
On the 10th February 1961 Alexander Cossey completed a Statutory Declaration indicated he has lost his discharge papers. He gave his address as No. 2 Aitkinson Street, Northham, Western Australia.
Alexander Cossey died in 1968 in Western Australia[4].
