John Edward Cossey, known as Edward, was born on 7 March 1862 at Smythesdale, in the Colony of Victoria, Australia. He was the son of John Cossey and Maria Parker. [1]
On 22 November 1869 Edward Cossey, with his two brothers and one sister, was admitted into State Care and sent to the Industrial School. Edward was discharged as a Ward on 22 February 1878.[2]
Edward Cossey is believed to have married Eliza Werner sometime before the birth of their first child in 1891 but no verification of this has been found to date.
Edward and Eliza had four children: Lena Elizabeth Cossey born 1891, Arthur Edward Cossey born 1893, Edith Maude Cossey born 1896, and May Frances Cossey born 1899.
Edward Cossey died at Prahran, Victoria in 1906. [3]
