Hi, I am Dorothy, a WikiTree mentor!! Are you enjoying your time on WikiTree so far?
Now that you have had a little time to try our site, there are a few more features you may find useful:
For instance, ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards; including some tips on writing biographies
Also a friendly reminder about adding sources and references to your profile. Sources are critically important for genealogy and you will be helping future genealogists by listing where the information you've added came from. This page describes different kinds of sources: http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Sources
Congratulations, Erik! You are now a confirmed member of WikiTree. To get started, please see: How to Use WikiTree.
The central hub where we share ideas and answer questions is our G2G Forum. It is here you will find the Question of the Week: Do you record pets in the family history? (Informally, not in the charts) You may also search for topics of interest and introduce yourself with a post about an ancestor you are researching.
There are numerous ways you may get involved at WikiTree. See the Volunteers Needed page for more information on projects you can contribute to.
Thanks for volunteering and enjoy the journey. --Rod
Welcome to WikiTree! The initial email you receive from WikiTree will contain links to help you get started. We hope you will take time to browse the site and check us out.
WikiTree is FREE, and different from other genealogical sites. Our goal is to have one Profile per person, which means we collaborate as a team.
If you would like to join us, add your own family, share research, and collaborate with others, simply confirm your email address, fill out the TAGS on your Profile page, click SAVE TAGS, and VOLUNTEER. (information on Tags can be found at http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Tags). Once you opt to Volunteer, one of our Greeters will be happy to confirm your membership.
