Drapeau identifiant les profils du Canada, Nouvelle-France
Jacques (Cordeau) Cordeau dit Deslauriers lived
in Canada, Nouvelle-France.

Jacques Cordeau was born on 13 Sep 1671 and baptized the following day in Sainte-Famille, Île d'Orléans, Canada, Nouvelle-France. He was the son of Jean Cordeau dit Deslauriers and of Catherine Latour. Godparents at the infant's baptism were Jacques Fouillou and Jacquette Lauvergnat (sic) wife of Pierre Golin (sic). The officiating priest was Thomas Morel.[1][2][3]

Marriage
Jacques Cordeau, aged 31 on the record, married Marguerite Toupin, aged 17 on the record, daughter of Antoine Toupin and Louise Cloutier, on 22 Aug 1702 in La-Visitation-de-Notre-Dame de Château-Richer. In the presence of known witnesses François Caron, Vincent Gagnon and Jacques Boutillet. The celebrant priest was G. Gaultier.[4]

Known children of Jacques Cordeau and Marguerite Toupin:

  1. m -Jacques Deslauriers, born and bapt 15 Aug 1703 in Château-Richer
  2. f -Marguerite Cordeau, born and bapt 18 July 1704 in Château-Richer; she was baptised at birth by lay baptism in the absence of the priest from the parish, and from the record of said baptism done next day by the priest, she may have been buried on that next day, the record is difficult to read. There is no separate record of funeral to confirm this.
  3. m-Antoine Cordeau, born 28th and bapt 29 Jan 1709 in Rivière-Ouelle (twin)
  4. m-Jean François Cordeau, born 28th and bapt 29 Jan 1709 in Rivière-Ouelle (twin)
  5. f-Marie Madeleine Cordeau, she marries Antoine Michaud on 30 May 1729 in Kamouraska
  6. f-Marie Cordeau dite Desloriers, born 17 Aug 1707, bapt 6 Dec 1707 in Rivière-Ouelle, she marries Jacques Boutillet on 29 Jan 1731 in Château-Richer
  7. m-François Toussaint Cordeau dit Deslauriers(1715?-1790), he marries Geneviève Michaud 13 Jan 1738 in Kamouraska
  8. f-Brigitte Cordeau, born around 1717 as said to be 22 when she marries Alexandre Michaud on 12 Jan 1739 in Kamouraska
  9. f-Marguerite Cordeau dite Deslauriers (1714-1802) She is listed as 88 on her funeral record in 1802, she married Joseph Michaud on 7 Apr 1739 in Kamouraska. Her last child was born in 1763, so this has to be a different girl than the one born in 1704, having a child at 49 is realistic, not very much so at 59.
  10. f-Geneviève Cordeau (circa 1705-1710- d 1793), she is listed as 32 when she marries François Romain Faucase (aka François Raymond Phocas or François Raymond) on 6 Nov 1741 in Kamouraska, they had 3 known children and she is listed as 88 on her funeral record in 1793.[5]

Marguerite Toupin passed away about 1722 in Canada, Nouvelle-France. She is listed as deceased in 1729 on the marriage record of her daughter Marie Madeleine Cordeau to Antoine Michaud.[6]

2nd Marriage
As widower of Marguerite Toupin, he married Madeleine Mirande, widow of Jean Mignot and daughter of Emmanuel Mirande and Marguerite Bourgeois, in 1727 in Saint-Louis de Kamouraska.

Known children of Jacques Cordeau and Madeleine Mirande (aka Lamirande):

  1. Marie Judith, who marries Augustin Dubé 18 Nov 1748,
  2. Marie Josephe, born 23 Mar 1728 in Kamouraska, who marries Joseph Taillon on 10 Jan 1746
  3. Madeleine, who dies on 15 Feb 1756 (no age stated on record). All of these were in Kamouraska.[5]

Deslauriers-55 and Cordeau-dit-Desloriers-1 appear to represent the same person because: this is the same man, his first wife is definitely deceased in 1729, presumably she died earlier.
