Biography

Henry Cooke was born in Cornwall, England.

Henry Harry Cooke was baptised in St Martin in Meneage, Cornwall on 10 October 1838. He was the son of Sampson Harry & Jane Cooke.^[1][2]

Henry Harry Cooke married Mary Ann Isabel Peacock in Forbes, New South Wales on 19 August 1869.^[3] They had the following children:

1. Vyvyan Henry Cooke, born 1870 in Forbes^[4]
2. Evelyn I Cooke, born 1872 in Forbes^[5]
3. Gertrude Emily Cooke, born 1873 in Forbes^[6]
4. Lillian Ada Cooke, born 1875 in Forbes^[7]

In 1872 Henry founded the first newspaper published in Parkes.^[12]

Henry was the first mayor of Parkes after the town was incorporated.^[12]

Henry represented the Forbes electorate for three terms to 1891.^[12]

Henry died at his residence Trelowarren in Parkes, New South Wales on 22 June 1903.^{[13][12][14][15][16]}
