20 Mar 1658/9, The will of William Baldridge, son of James and Dorothy, has a codicil stating " I give unto my brother Bainham, his three children, three cows, which I had forgotten in my will". (Westmoreland Will Book I, p. 93.)
[11 March 1662/1663] The quitt rents for land was due at Michaelmas last past and Mrs. Dorothy Balldridge was then liveing and in possession of the land now in possession of James Balidridge. It is ordered that the executor of Dorothy Balldridg, Thomas Butler, pay the King's rent.[6]

2 Nov 1662, Dorothy Baldridge, in her will, lists her three Baynham grandchildren, Elizabeth, Anne and Mary.
She makes her son-in-law, Thomas Butler her executor, and leaves a legacy to her grandson Joshua Butler. (Westmoreland Will Book I, p. 188.)
After Anne's death, Alexander Baynham had married Anne's sister, Jane, and she was probably the mother of his three daughters. After Alexander's death ca 1660, Thomas Butler II married his widow Jane, and had a son, Joshua, by her before Dorothy's death in 1662.

Research Notes

The following changes are suggested by the evidence:
Despite diligent searching of records in the Maryland Archives, we can find no proof of the existence of a Joseph Baldridge. Instead, there are only two Baldridge brothers mentioned, often together.
See here: http://speccol.msa.maryland.gov/carr/
And here: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Ark_and_Dove%2C_sailed_1634
The suggestion of her husband as Joseph comes from a compiled genealogy. Primary sources show only James Baldridge is mentioned as a husband of Dorothy. This is proven by his will, which mentions Dorothy. (see his profile)
Also, there is a James Cook who also arrived on the Ark, as a fellow passenger of the Baldridge brothers James and Thomas. Could this be Dorothy's father?
The place of birth could not be Westmoreland, VA. This county hadn't formed yet. Dorothy's contemporaries were mostly new arrivals from England.

  • The profile of Mary (Unknown) Wickliffe (abt.1640-) shows that Mary had a sister named Jane. The profile of her sister Jane (Baldridge) Brownsford (1648-bef.1683) supports this, via court proceedings re: the estate of Mary. Their parents are currently unknown. This profile was created in order to link the sisters.

I removed the mother and father because I plan to prove that they are not her parents. If anyone can help , I need to know the relationship between Richard and Phebe Cock and this woman. That may give us the correct parents.
