Bernard Joseph Connolly was born in 1931 in Massachusetts, probably in Boston, to Colman and Annie Connolly.[1][2]
In the 1940 census Bernard (age 8) was the son of Colman Connolly in Brooklyn Judicial Township, Alameda, California, United States.[1]
In the 1950 census Bernard (age 18), Postman, was the never married son of Annie E Connolly in Woodstock, Oakland, Alameda, California, United States.[2]
In 1956 he married Bernadette Angela Bernasso in St. Benedict's Church in Oakland.[3][4]
In 1960 postman Connelly and his wife went to a journey through Portugal, Spain, Germany, Denmark, Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, France, Belgium, England and Ireland, where Connolly would meet fellow postmen of 21 cities and carry out mail with them, including from people of Oakland.[3] They paid by themselves for the four months trip.[5] The left California on 10 April 1960[6] and returned on 9 July.[7]
The next year, Bernard went to Asia and delivered mail to Japan, Korea, the Philippines, Thailand and India.[8][9]
In June 1966 Bernard and Bernadette got divorced.[10]
Identity of the person on the death record assumed by living in the same country and the birthday being in the range implied by the census records. Final connection between birthday and postman or birthday and wife remains to be found. --Straub-620 14:38, 20 April 2024 (UTC)
California marriage indexes suggests that he was also married to Marjorie Whitehead from 1970 until 1974.[12]
