Martha (Byrd) Cragg is a part of US Black heritage.
Martha was born between 1832[1]-1838[2] in North Carolina[2][3]. She was the wife and widow of Balis Conner and Civil War veteran Robert Cragg of the famous 54th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry.

Her last name at birth was Byrd. See the note with her marriage record to Bayless Conner. On the left-hand page, there's a note: "Columbus. Sept. 22d 1852. This is to certify that I, James Byrd, do hereby give my consent to the marriage of my daughter Martha Ann Byrd to is not yet eighteen years of age to Baless Conner. /s/ James Byrd
