Biography
Essie (Coniers) Conyers is a part of US Black heritage.
Essie Coniers was born on 14 March 1886, according to their grave. Gender is unknown. They are buried beside several Conyers, which leads one to believe the surname of Coniers was a misspelling on the grave. Furthermore, they lie next to John Conyers, his wife Easter, and their daughter Ora. In the 1900 census, Essie (age 10) was the son of John Conyers in Zolfo, Desoto, Florida. The date is a few years off of what is engraved on the grave, however. He was born according to the census about 1890, possibly in July.[1] It is strongly felt they are one and the same person.
Essie was buried in Bowling Green Memorial Gardens, Bowling Green, Hardee County, Florida, United States with a death date of 20 March 1913. [2]
