I spend time almost everyday searching for correct answers. I took a trip to Scotland and started when I got home to try to find the when & where's of my James from Dickenson Co VA. I paid for two of my male 1st cousins to take DNA on Family Tree DNA. Since then I had my DNA taken on Ancestry & 23 & me. I have two adopted children and gave them them a gift in 23 & me if they were interested. My son did and found and met his siblings. I'm still working on my Sutherland line which include Hopson, Taylor & Dyer to start with. My Compton is Fuller, Kiser & Johnson. I open for any help. I'm not technical oriented. But I try.

Biography

My name is Betty Compton, My married name Betty Grandstaff. I was born in OH, My parents wanted to go back to VA. But then had to move back because of illness. I know my Compton family back to my 4th great Grandfather James Compton 12-15-1753 Woodbridge NJ. 3-10-1832 Honaker VA. He married Frances Herndon 1762 NC 7-12-1836 Russell Co VA. They follower to son to VA. I think I know most of descendants family back to him, if not all of them. My aim is to get the Compton that arrived in the US . I started Genealogy to find my Sutherland relatives, who I can only go back to my 4th Grandfather James 'the Scotsman' abt 1755 /8-3-1825which most people refer to him. He married Sarah Buchanan. Again I know all the descendants forward. The Sutherland DNA group can prove he came from Clyne Scotland. I'm a widow now & I work one line or another almost every day but that is where I started
