Charles was the son of Charles Colville and Ruby Streatfeild.[1]
He succeeded as the 12th Lord Colville of Culross, 3rd Baron Colville, of Culross, co. Perth, and 3rd Viscount Colville of Culross upon the death of his father, 25 March 1928.
Charles married Kathleen Myrtle Gale, daughter of Brig.-Gen. Henry Richmond Gale and Kathleen Jane Villiers-Stuart in 1931.[2]
He joined the Royal Navy in 1904 as Lieutenant Commander and later became a Commander. [3]
He participated in the Battle of Jutland. He received the King's Commendation for brave conduction during World War I.
He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant of Kincardineshire.
In 1945 Charles was killed on active duty in a flying accident over the Azores.
