Biography

Norah (Coles) Buckmaster was born in British Columbia, Canada.

Norah was born 4 October 1900 in Nelson, British Columbia. She is the daughter of William Coles and Catherine Tucker.

In 1901, Norah, aged 0, is living with her parents in the Yale & Caribou District in the interior of British Columbia.^[1]

In 1911, William, aged 39, and Esther, aged 40, are living at 523 Robson Street, Nelson, BC with their daughters: Nora, aged 10; Catherine E., aged 7; Jeane A., aged 2; and Esther C., aged 8 months. William's occupation is illegible.^[2]

In the 1921 census, Norah, aged 20, is living at 523 Robson Street, Nelson, BC with her parents and her siblings: Elaine, aged 17; Jean, aged 12; and Dorothea, aged 10. Her occupation is illegible on the census form.^[3]

Norah took her training as a nurse at the Calgary General Hospital School of Nursing in Calgary, Alberta from 1922 to 1925.^[4] At the time of her marriage to Herbert in 1926, she was working as the "Night Superintendent" at Revelstoke Hospital in Revelstoke, British Columbia.

Norah's marriage to Herbert James Buckmaster took place 15 December 1926 at the home of W.H. Burfield on 2nd Street, Revelstoke, British Columbia.^[5] They had one son, Harvey, born in Calgary, Alberta in 1929.

No sources have been found showing when and where Norah died.
