AUTO FUMES KILL THREE.
Gases From Engine Fatal to Woman and Two Children.
WINNFIELD, La., December 26. - Mrs. King, mother of John King, locomotive engineer of the Louisiana and Arkansas railroad, and his two children - Frank, eight, and Dorothy, six - were asphyxiated yesterday by fumes from an automobile engine, according to authorities.
King, accompanied by his mother and children, started to Jena, La., to spend Christmas and were halted at Curry, eight miles from here, because of roads.
King is said to have left the engine of his car running and went for help to get his car out of the mud. Upon returning he found the three dead. According to Coroner Fitz of Winnfield, the deaths were due to gas fumes from the engine.
