Hi Susan: I was doing a search for a DNA match in Ancestry for the surname Cole and Edit Cole's name was in the family tree of Diane britton's My Cole ancestor was David Cole, who emigrated from England to Prince Edward Island, Canada, (PEI) where I live. If you would like to explore this relationship, please send me an email to [email address removed] Thank you Mary Cudmore

Sorry Mary. i have only just seen this. None of these people are in my tree as far as I know. Very few of my tree members emigrated to Canada.

Thanks Susan for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz

Because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, working within the projects which coordinate them is essential. You can learn more about joining the community in How To #3 and in the Project FAQ.

Use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find one which best fits your research focus, whether time period, location, or special event. Read the goals and tasks of the project and join if it is a good fit.

Let me know if you have trouble finding projects which fit your focus. Click my name, then ask in the comment section of my page.

Hi

Wish you a Happy New Year. May 2018 bring you all you need to be happy.

Congratulation for adding your contributions in December. Whatever the quantity of your contributions, they all count. As we always say "Quality is better than quantity" to make a great family tree.

Thank you for being a Wikitreer,

Guy Constantineau - Wikitree leader

Just checking in with a few quick tips:

http://www.wikitree.com/quiz/pre_1700 We encourage all to study and take the pre-1700 quiz to enable you to add pre-1700's ancestors

Free Space pages are wiki pages for supplementing your family history. They can be used to profile anything of significance such as a special pet, a meaningful event, a school you attended, a family heirloom .... They're "anything pages".

Not sure what to include in a profile? Check out our Biography Ideas and Styles and Standards help pages.

Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.

Questions, please ask! Mary~ WikiTree Mentor

Hi Susan, I'm Mary, a Mentor. Our goal is to build a collaborative tree with just one profile per person, so please make sure to avoid http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Duplicates before adding a profile.

Adding DOB, DOD, locations, references attached to every person assists all of us!

Encounter ancestors already on WikiTree, contact the PM for trusted access.

Welcome Susan,

Thank you for volunteering to help grow our World Wide Family Tree.

You are now a member of the WikiTree Community. Please note we are trying to build one Collaborative Tree which means one profile per person. It is important to ensure no duplicates are entered as you add any Profiles to WikiTree.

Everything on WikiTree is a collaborative work in progress so don’t forget to read and sign our Honor Code. This is what keeps WikiTree a friendly and helpful community. Please feel free to ask if you have any questions.

Happy Hunting,

Jess

I have been researching for about 15 years for both my own extensive tree and for other peoples trees. My experience is restricted mainly to UK genealogy.

Hi!

I'm just checking in with you to see how your experience is going on Wikitree. If you would like to enjoy the benefits of being a full member you should click the volunteer link and then leave us a message here letting us know. If you're just taking a look around then enjoy! Have you checked to see if you already have family on WikiTree? Try our Surname Search! Please be sure to confirm your email address. Let me know if you have any questions.

I noticed you uploaded a GEDCOM. Here's a link to a great step-by-step of the process including screenshots that you might find helpful.

If you have any brick walls, collaboration might help bust through. Because WikiTree has only one profile for each person, the further back you go in your ancestry, the more likely cousins will find you and help out. ANY Wiki Genealogist can edit "Open" profiles (over 200 years old = open). There's also a brickwall tag in the G2G forum: brickwall

The help pages give lots of information about the process, best to start with 'Before you import a GEDCOM'.
