A GedMatch Ancestor Project, COX/COCKS/COCKE Regarding the descendants of ABRAHAM COCKE 1690-1760 VIRGINIA, has been created regarding Abraham Cocke Sr and his children including investigation of daughter Phoebe Cox DeMoss who is documented in a Quaker birth record. The project has been founded with 60+ test kits of of those who claim to descend from Abraham Cocke that have known lines, with a large number of the establishing testers claiming descent from Phoebe Cox DeMoss. Included in the study are a documented direct line Abraham Cocke descendants that include male and female siblings, and a family cluster of female direct line mtDNA tested descendants of Phoebe Cox DeMoss.

This project is established to study the relationship of the descendant lines of Abraham Cocke 1690-1760 VIRGINIA. Participant GedMatch kits MUST have a published tree showing a line from the tester to one of Abraham Cocke's children. A published tree on WikiTree or at least the line from the tester to one of the children is needed to be able to participate fully in the study as we will be working to triangulate shared segments for documentation. Not all of Abraham Cocke's children are listed on his WikiTree profile, if you come from a line not listed please email this project admin when submitting your test(s) to the project. Family groups of testers are very helpful so please feel free to recommend other close family that have tested and share your line.

The project is additionally seeking direct line male Y testers and for the daughter lines of Abraham Cox, mtDNA testers. If you are a direct line Y Cox descendant or a direct line female mt descendant, please email the admin when you submit your kit. This is a sub-project of the DEMOSS DNA PROJECT and the HARPETH RIVER REGION, BELLEVUE, TN DEMOSS FAMILY DNA PROJECT.

Hi cousin, thanks for your many contributions to the tree. Our nearest connection is Demoss/Dumas.

Hope you're doing okay in this storm! Stay safe.

Hi Albert,

Added a bit of bio and some citations to a profile you manage, John Mathews-168. If you have a source for his parents, would you please add it to his profile? The currently attached parents may be detached (and an Uncertain Parents section added to explain), if there is no source. Please let me know, if you have any questions or concerns about this (or anything else)  :-) Thank you!

Hi Albert - I think you might have uploaded some info on my grandfather, John Wesley Gage of Standbridge East, Quebec, Canada - but I can't seem to find the info. When I try to click the link it says I didn't upload some data or something like that - weird. Could you please let me know if you uploaded any data on him? I am trying to do some genetic research on our lineage back to Phineas Gage. Thank you - Selena

Hi Albert ,

Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful. Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies. If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles. Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations. If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page. _____ Matt~ WikiTree Mentor

Excuse me if I've got this all wrong, but I see you were interested in Ruth Perry and George Perry on 17th April. Just to let you know, I have no record of these two ever leaving the UK.

Hi Albert, I added you to Lucretia Wynne as a trusted source. The Wynne's are my maternal grandmother's family. My mom knows more about them than I do. I have yet to enter much of her research into WikiTree, so look forward to seeing your additions / corrections!

Cheers, Tony Vernon
