He married first Hannah Allyn, daughter of Isaac and Lydia (Leonard) Allyn, on 2 Jan 1766 at Brooklyn, Windham, Connecticut Colony - their children were Mary, Huldah, Hannah, Abigail, Sally, Nathaniel and Daniel Cogswell. Nathaniel's wife Hannah, 42, died 24 Jul 1790 [2]
After the death of his wife Hannah, he married Freelove Williams on 12 May 1791 in Brooklyn, Connecticut, USA[3] They had 1 child, William [4]
Capt. Nathaniel Cogswell, age 79, passed away on 16 Nov 1821 at Brooklyn, Windham, Connecticut, USA.[5]He is buried at South Cemetery, Brooklyn, Windham, Connecticut, USA
The last will and testament of Nathaniel Cogswell, dec. was presented at a Court of Probate in Plainfield on 4 Dec. 1821. His wife, 4 daughters, and 2 sons are mentioned along with his instructions written in 1814. [6]
