Cecil Roy Cobby was born on 3rd October 1896 in St Kilda, Victoria (Australia). He was the third of the four surviving sons of Arthur Cobby and Alice Nash. [1]
Like his famous brother, Harry, Cecil served in the Australian Flying Corps during The Great War; enlisted 10th January 1916, returned to Australia 15th May 1919. [2]
Cecil again served his country through the Australian Army during the Second World War, in the 12th Garrison Battalion; enlisted 2nd October 1939, discharged 19th February 1940. [3]
He then transferred to the Royal Australian Air Force, where he served until the end of the war, being discharged on 3rd April 1946. [4] He was Mentioned in Despatches on 4th May 1945 for distinguished service with No.10 Operational Group. [5]
He married Bertha Morrison in 1948 in Victoria. [6]
Aged 58 years, he passed away in 1955 in Victoria. [7]
