Hi Jeanne,

Congratulations on being Pre-1700 certified! Based on your ancestors, it looks like you’re going to be working on profiles that fall under several Projects. I'm here to help you find one that best fits your needs.

Start by thinking about the particular time periods, locations, and topics in which you're interested. Do you have some historically-significant ancestors? Take a look at the list of active projects for examples of what we have going on.

If you see one that's just right, go ahead and join. Otherwise, let me know what you're looking for and I'll see what I can find.

Hi Susie,

I am searching a line of Marshall's that lived in Connecticut. The earliest is a Thomas Marshall b. 1610 who became a Quaker. My interest is so very focused on this one line, I don't know if there are any projects focused so narrowly. Thank you for your note. Jeanne Fohe

Hi, Jeanne. I just saw your question at Marshall-85.

To protect your cousin's privacy, you can give him a name like Anonymous M (first name "Anonymous," Last Name "M"), set his profile's privacy to "Private with Public Family Tree," and add his DNA information to his profile. Then if you connect his profile to his parents, grandparents, etc., and make sure those profiles have "Public Tree," his DNA data will propagate to the pages for other relatives.

How's everything going?

Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful.

Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.

If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.

Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page.

Hello Jeanne!

You are now a confirmed member of WikiTree! Thank you for volunteering and don't forget to read and sign the Honor Code.

Wow!!! You're the First Clohset profile on Wikitree! I bet your 'cousins' already here will benefit from your insightful collaboration, sourced research and first-hand knowledge.

Have fun and ask for help if you need it! WikiTree members are always eager to offer guidance to a fellow genealogist.

If you need additional help, our Mentors Project is a friendly group of volunteers who are glad to assist with WikiTree-specific problems.

Deborah, Volunteer Greeter

Hi Jeanne,

Welcome to WikiTree! The initial email from us has helpful links that will get you started on WikiTree, which is not like any genealogy site you’ve ever used.

WikiTree is different because our goal is to have one profile per person, and that means we all work together as a BIG collaborative team!

What brings you to WikiTree? Do you have research you’d like to share? Are you interested in how your family fits into the big tree? When you confirm your email address, you’ll have an opportunity to volunteer and tell us about your genealogical interests.

Once you volunteer, one of our Greeters will be happy to confirm your membership, and you’ll be on your way!

Welcome to the family! We’re really glad you’re here.
