Ann Clere, the daughter of Nicholas Clere and Ann Haselwood, was born 'say 1566', probably in Colchesther, Essex. Anne (Clere) Sherman's will was dated Autust 3, 1609, and proved January 12, 1610/1.[1]
Ann Cleare married Edmund Sherman on 11 September 1584; Source NEGHR VOL. 167 JULY 2013; page 213 first paragraph of the article entitled THE EARLIEST SHERMANS OF DEDHAM ESSEX AND THEIR WIVES: Part 4. The article refers in depth to Edmund's first wife but mentions also Ann Cleare at the beginning of the article written by Michael Johnson Wood.

Edmond Sherman was founder of the English school in Dedham.
He made a will in 1598, and was buried in 1600.
Anne Cleare, widow of Edmond Sherman, made a will in 1609.

The will of Anne (Clere) Sherman, of Dedham, the widow, is dated Aug. 3, 1609, proved Jan. 12, 1610. (P. C. C. Wingfield 9.) "To John my son at twenty one, my house and land that the widow Fence hath now in occupation," the rents until then to be equally divided between Samuel my son and the aforesaid John Sherman. Residue of personal estate to "be equally divided among my seven children vizt. Samuel, John and Benjamin Sherman, Sara Warner, Anna Sherman, Susan Sherman and Mary Sherman at the several ages of twenty one years." My six children yet under age. Brother Nicholas Clarr of Colchester and son in law Thomas Warner Executors.
