John Christopher Cleary age 78 of Ackley died on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at the Hansen Family Hospital in Iowa Falls. John Christopher Cleary was born on May 2, 1938 in Parkersburg, Iowa, the son of Edward and Ruth (Christopher) Cleary. John graduated from the Parkersburg High School in 1956 and served two years in the United States Army. He was united in marriage to Karen Iverson on November 25, 1978 in Ackley. He had worked for Ryken Engineering in Ackley for 50 years before retiring. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, camping, and spending time with his family and grandchildren. He served on the Prairie Bridges Park Board for several years and enjoyed volunteering at the park, as well as serving on several municipal boards. He belonged to the Our Saviour's Lutheran Church where he served on the Church Council for several years.

John is survived by his wife, Karen; his children, Wendy (Bill) Fredericks of Allen, TX; Jeff (Denise) Iverson of Allen, TX; and Kirk Iverson (Stephanie) of Carrollton, TX; his grandchildren, Matthew and Mason Fredericks and Jordan and Madelyne Iverson; one sister, Margaret (Harlan) Schuck of Parkersburg; and a sister-in-law, Janice Cleary of Parkersburg; as well as nieces and nephews.
