James Robert Claven was born in 1884. He was the son of Andrew Claven and Sophia Williams. ^[1]

OBITUARY MR. J. R. CLAVEN (Nov, 1949).^[3] — The death occurred in the Wingham Hospital on Saturday night of Mr James Robert Claven, who has been staying at the home of Mrs Harold Radcliffe, of Wingham Road. He was a son of the late Mr and. Mrs Andrew Claven, and was born at Bulahdelah 65 years ago, and spent his early llfe there and at Port Macquarie, where he drove bullock teams and worked in sawmills. For the past 27 years he has lived at Taree, and for the last 16 years he had been blind. The late Mr Claven was a bach elor. The following brothers and sisters survive him: Messrs Jack Claven (Port Macquarie), W. A. Claven (Kooraing hat), Mesdames W. Wilkes (Port Mac quarie), R. O'Farrell (Lismore), Dave Mudford (Harrington), W. Radcliffe (Old Bar) and M. Clark (Queensland). A brother, Benjamin, and a sister, Elizabeth, died in childhood at Bulah- delah. The funeral took place at the Redbank cemetery on Monday. Rev. A. E. Frede conducted the service and Mr S. W. Bridge was the undertaker.
