Hello, The Mayflower Project is requesting that you check-in to let us know you are still interested in being a badged member of the Mayflower Project.

Requirements to maintain your status as a badged Mayflower Project Member: (1) The mayflower G2G tag is required to be a member. (2) You must be active on Wikitree within the last year. If you are barely active you may also be removed. (3) You must respond to checkin requests. Note that if you manage one or more Mayflower profiles you will not be asked to checkin.

You may respond by replying to this comment or sending me a private message. Thank you for being a member of WikiTree and the Mayflower Project.

Gosh, I should have scrolled all the way down, I’m just seeing this. Yes, I am still interested. Perhaps I could converse with someone on time and responsibilities as I don’t come here that often. I have been Proved now as a Howland/Tilley Descendant and would love to be of service here!

Hi Shari, Thank you for responding. We don't really require a lot of time spent on project profiles, although as a suggestion of something you could do, check your 3rd, 4th and 5th generation (from John Howland) profiles here on Wikitree. Many of these profiles need work, good sources, biographies, accurate information from the "silver books" etc.

Hi Anne, I will work on this today! These notes are just what I need . Thank you

Hi Shari,

Thank you for adding a GEDCOM. The GEDCOM does not automatically populate your tree. It generates a GEDCOMpare report which you work through, either accepting or rejecting all suggested matches. Once that has been done, you should see [add] buttons for each of the remaining names.

The GEDCOMpare process guide has tips on how to use the data in your file most efficiently.

For those using Chrome, Opera or Firefox browsers, there is a tool that can help with the formatting of profiles which have been created through GEDCOM, so that you can concentrate on the research. You can read more about it in the WikiTree AGC FAQ.

Hi Shari

Thank you for adding your DNA to WikiTree. Getting the Best from DNA will tell you more about how DNA kits are used on WikiTree.

I hope this helps! If you have any questions or problems, let me know.

Take care

PS Thanks for your contributions so far! Please do return to the profiles you create to add more biographical details and sources -- this is the best way to create an interesting, accurate, and well-rounded story of your family. The easiest way to find info and sources is to use the handy RootsSearch link on the right side of any profile. Use your WikiTree login to access over 20 websites. Once you find a correct source, copy and paste the citation info and add it to the profile. Learn more about sources here. Also, you may be interested in checking out the resources of the United States project or you can find other projects that suit other areas of your research.

Hi Shari,

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!

Because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, working with members of the projects which coordinate them is essential. You can learn more about joining the community in How To #3 and in the Project FAQ.

Use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find one which best fits your research focus. Review the project pages for special guidelines and to learn how to collaborate with the project members.

Let me know if you have trouble finding projects which fit your focus. Click my name, then ask in the comment section of my page.

Remember to cite reliable sources in pre-1700 profiles you manage, or edit. (See: Pre-1700 Reliable Sources).

Welcome Shari, and thank you for upgrading, 😊

I am very pleased to welcome you to the WikiTree family, your contributions will go a long way to joining the world together.

It is best to start with the New Member How-To pages, they will save you a lot of time and frustration.

I am here to answer any question you have, no matter how trivial you may think it is. There is no such thing as a silly question. Please add as much information as you can, it all helps to turn a “name” back into a person. I hope you enjoy the site as much as I do.

You mentioned that you are just starting, out. No problem! Every genealogist is a beginner at some point.

Take your time, keep track of sources and ask questions. Check here for tips.

Happy tree climbing

Karen ~ WikiTree Greeter
