Very kind of you to find the burial record for Jane Kirkley. She's one of my brick walls. Every little bit of information helps!

Hi again Hilary, I did a bit of checking as well and have some facts that will clear up the differences of the two Jenkins. Jenkin, born 1829 died 1921 In Armadale,NSW. aged 92. Registration no 8109 Vic. BDM - this is not Annie's father. Annie died in 1926 in Cheltenham, infectious diseases hospital, Reg. No. 828 Vic BDM. Jenkin Collier - Annie's father - died Elsternwick 1915 Reg. No. 1253 Vic BDM . He married Sarah In Elsternwick, in 1865 Reg. No. 4439 Parents Ann Powell and Thomas Collier. Hope this helps clear it up for you.

Hi Hilary, I see that a proposed merge between Annie Kissick and Annie Collier was proposed. I had to reject it. I wrote out the reasons - not sure where they ended up, but I will repeat them. There were two Jenkin Colliers - the correct one for Annie is 1838-1915 - he was a blacksmith. The other Jenkin Collier, also from Wales, also emigrated to Australia, became very wealthy, had 3 daughters, none of whom ever married. Sarah Jane was born in 1846, died 18 July 1923.

Sue

Hi Susan,

I did notice the two different Jenkin Colliers, this one Jenkin Collier (1829-1921) then these two who are both married to Sarah Bainbridges Jenkin Collier (1838-1915) and Jenkin Collier (1838-1915) The Find a grave memorial for Jenkin 1829-1921 has his wife named on it (Alice Elizabeth), so I knew he was a different person. So we have 3 Jenkins, two are duplicated, two duplicate Sarah Bainbridge/Colliers Sarah Jane Bainbridge (1846-1923) and Sarah Jane (Bainbridge) Collier (abt.1837-1923) (slight difference in DOB, but not sourced and research notes on Bainbridge-934 mention her husband Jenkin). And two duplicate Annie Colliers Anne Beatrice Collier (1879-) and Annie Beatrice (Collier) Kissick (1879-1926) Hilary

Hi,

I have discovered the Bainbridges of Stanhope, County Durham in my family tree. My Great Great Grandmother was Polly Bainbridge (born in 1855) and married George William Hall. This line of my family is fascinating and I would love to learn more about the family...and discover relatives far and wide.

Hi

Mary (Polly) Bainbridge / Hall's father I know was John Bainbridge born in Gateshead on 9 Apr 1813 to parents John Bainbridge and Ann Hutton. I have found two other children to John and Ann Hutton, Mary born 6 Mar 1808 and Jane born 12 May 1806. The baptism of Jane is informative, it states

'10 Aug 1806 Jane Bainbridge, born 12 May, 1st daughter of John Bainbridge (native of this parish, keelman) & Ann Hutton (daughter of John Hutton, native of Long Benton, Northumberland)'

I haven't looked into John Bainbridge senior, from this record it would seem he was from Gateshead, I can have a browse and see what I can find! I will let you know!

Hi Hilary,

Thank you so much for your reply. I have so far traced my line of the Bainbridge family back to John Bainbridge born in 1610. The line of the family divides around 1648. My line goes to live in Gateshead as miners. Another link goes on to descend to Emerson Buschamp Bainbridge...the founder of the Bainbridges store in Newcastle. This has intrigued me and I need to know more about the diverse branches of my family.

Hi Hilary, I found a 1841 census for a John Featherstone b.about 1790 and wondered if there was a connection with your John. It is on the census for my Isabella Gibson and Henry Harland. Eileen Venables-249
Hi Eileen,

This was a different John Featherstone (there were quite a few born around the same time). The chap in the census you have seen from 1841 living at Rowantree Foot was actually born 1788 and died in 1844 at Rowantree Foot. He was a son of William Featherstone and Elizabeth Robinson. The Elizabeth Featherstone age 75 in the same census was his mother Elizabeth Robinson/Featherstone.

Hi Hilary,

Thanks for taking responsibility for Orphaned Profiles. This is a courtesy email to share the After Adopting Orphans FAQ which explains the special attention adopted profiles will sometimes need from their profile managers. One quick way to find the profiles you adopted is by searching your Contributions List for the word "adopted" and "manager." You can find a quick link to your Contributions List in the My WikiTree dropdown menu.

If you will be working with any profiles needing GEDCOM cleanup, the AGC tool can help with formatting so that you can concentrate on the research. You can read more about it in the WikiTree AGC FAQ.

Let me know if you have any questions,
