Biography

Calogero Ciancimino is born around 1814 in Corleone, the son of Pasquale Ciancimino and Vincenza Stilla.

Vincenzo is born and baptized 3 June 1848, the son of Maestro Calogero Ciancimino and an unknown mother. His godparents are Maestro Bernardo lo Curto and Rosa Tufanio, a married couple. There is a note on this record, to see page 611.^[1] Near the end of this volume there is a note regarding the son of Maestro Calogero Ciancimino and an unknown mother, that on 12 June 1848, the mother is identified as Marianna Pecorella.^[2]

Marianna Pecorella married Maestro Bernardo Ciancimino, son of Giorgio, in 1834. The relation between Bernardo and Calogero is not yet known.

Maestro Calogero marries Marianna Pecorella on 11 December 1873. His parents have died by this time.^[3]

When Vincenzo marries, he is called the same as in his baptismal record, the son of Maestro Calogero and an unknown mother.^[4]

Death of Calogero

Calogero dies at age 72 (b. 1814) on 1 August 1886. The Church record calls him the son of the late Pasquale Ciancimino and Vincenza Stilla, and husband of Maria Pecorella.^[5] Lorenzo Badami, 40, and Antonino Saporito, 28, contadini, report Calogero's death in his home at via Jannazzo, #68, report that he was a shoemaker and a bachelor.^[6]

The index entry for Vincenzo's death on 23 May 1911 calls him the son of Calogero Ciancimino and Marianna Pecorello.^[7] He is 63.
