Lida was born in 1851. She was the daughter of Toland Christison and Lucy Churchill. She passed away in 1927.

Lida Lodema (Christison) Galloway Death April 9, 1927. WIDOW DIES IN FLAMES. Woman, 80 years, Trapped in Upper Story. Ladder Breaks When Rescuers Try to Give Help and Arrival Comes Too Late. Tillamook, Or., April 9. Mrs William F. Galloway, 80-year old pioneer of Tillamook county, was trapped by fire in her farm home near Sand Lake Friday noon and burned to death while her stepson, daughter-in-law and friends vainly sought to rescue her. The woman who was a widow since February 25 when her husband died, was weaving carpet upstairs in her home. The noise of the loom doubtless prevented her from hearing the fire in the lower part of the house until it reached the stairway. She screamed for help, and Mrs. M C Galloway, who lived in the other part of the double house, summoned her husband and neighbors. In the efforts to rescue the woman a ladder broke, and when the relatives reached the upper story, flames were rushing out the window, further preventing the rescue. Mrs. Galloway was found near the window, her body badly chared. The fire, which is believed to have started from clothing placed too near a stove, completely destroyed the homes. From Linda Knettle: Grandpa Mike [Galloway] and Grandma Mary Ellen [Scheel Galloway] moved into one-half of Lodema and William's house to look after them. Lodema was still very active but William had Parkinson's and he was too heavy for her to manage alone. He died only six weeks before she burned to death in the fire. She saved wood that she found on the beach or wherever and put it behind the stove to dry out. Mom thinks that some pitchy wood probably ignited. Lodema was in the attic weaving a rug on a large loom. There was only one small window and she wasn't able to get out of it. Grandma could hear her calling and asking for help.
