Biography

William Ching was born around 1875.

Around 1899 in New Zealand, he married Caroline Annie Margetts.

He passed away on 1 June 1934 at Fairfield, Canterbury, aged 58 (or 65, according to a death notice). He had resided at 36 Albert Street, Ashburton. He died suddenly while working at the Canterbury Frozen Meat Company's works at Fairfield, where he was a stoker; he had just finished firing the furnaces when he staggered back and fell over a heap of coal, dead. He was buried on 3 June at Ashburton Cemetery, in a Wesleyan plot (he was Salvation Army), area 119, plot 29; his wife was buried in the same plot in 1952.
