Sir John Chetwode, 4th Bt (11 May 1764-17 Dec 1845) was the only surviving son of Sir John Chetwode, 3rd Bt., of Chetwode, Bucks. by Dorothy, daughter & co heiress of Tobias Bretland of Thorncliffe, Cheshire. Matriculated St. John’s Camb. 1782 but did not take a degree. He m. (1) 26 Oct. 1785, Lady Henrietta Grey (d. 12 July 1826), daughter of George Harry Grey†, 5th Earl of Stamford, 8 sns & 7 daughters (2) 16 May 1827, Elizabeth, da. of John Bristow of Lincs., 2 daughters
Offices and Titles: Succeeded his father as 4th Bt. 25 May 1779. Sheriff, Cheshire 1789-90 Capt. Staffs. yeomanry 1794 MP Newcastle-under-Lyme from 1815-1818. MP Buckingham from 1841 until his death in 1845.
He d. 17 Dec 1845 at his home in Bognor Regis, Sussex, buried in Mucklestone, Staffordshire, England.
