Biography
Alfred Cheadle was born in Yorkshire, England.
Alfred Cheadle migrated from Yorkshire, England to South Australia on City of Adelaide in 1880.
Alfred was the son of Peter Cheadle and Eliza Wood. He was born in Horton, Yorkshire, England, on 15 January 1853 and baptised on 8 March 1854 in the Bradford Cathedral.[1][2]
Alfred was three years old when his father died.[3] His mother then married James Mellor in 1872.[4]
In 1880 Alfred emigrated to South Australia with his mother and stepfather, and arrived at Port Adelaide on 27 June 1880 on the clipper City of Adelaide.[5]
In 1886 Alfred married Margaret Loutit in the Congregational Church at College Park, an inner eastern suburb of Adelaide, South Australia.[6] Their children were:
Alfred died in 1923 at Victor Harbor,[7] and was interred in St Judes Anglican Cemetery at Brighton, in South Australia.[8]
