Francoise "Frances" Chauvin, was born in 1778 in Cahokia, Illinios, Parish of Ste Famille of the Cahokyas; and died Aft. 1850 in Grosse Pointe, Michigan. She was the daughter of Pierre Chauvin, her mother's third husband, and Catherine LaComble / LeCombe. [1].
Frances appears to have been an orphan by the time she was only 16 years of age, and married relatively young. Her mother may have died before 1782, the year that Pierre Chauvin was requested to appear in court with the guardians of Catherine's minor children from her prior marriages. Her father, Pierre, appears to have deceased prior to or about 1793.
We can only imagine she was an industrious pioneer like her husband.
According to one source, her death date was 1863, making her 85, quite a long life considering the times and circumstances. Brava, Frances!
