Nicolas was born 3 Mar 1784 and was baptized the next day in Ste-Anne de Détroit. He was the son of Jean Baptiste Chauvin and Thérèse Séguin. Godparents were Nicolas Thyvierge Allemand and Archange Seguin, no signatures. [1]
On 24 Jul 1809, in Ste-Anne de Détroit, Nicolas Chauvin son of the late Jean Baptiste Chauvin and Thérèse Séguin married Angelique Coutant daughter of François Coutant and Angelique Brillant. Witnesses were Jean Baptiste Saquin (sic) dit Laderoute, Jean Baptiste Cochois père (signature) et fils, Jean Baptiste Laperle, Jean Baptiste Chauvin, and Joseph Chauvin. Relationships of the witnesses to the bride and groom were not recorded. [2]
