Jean Baptiste Chauvin was born on 25 Jun 1712 in the Ville de Quebec. He was baptized on 26 Jun 1712 at Notre Dame de Quebec.[1] He was the son of Jacques Chauvin and Marie Cauchon.

Agnès Lacroix married Jean Chauvin on or after 29 Sep 1737 in Kaskaskia, Illinois Country, Nouvelle-France, now Kaskaskia, Randolph, Illinois, USA. 29 Sep 1737 is the date of the Marriage contract between Jean Chauvin, master maker of edge-tools of Kaskaskia, son of Jacque Chauvin and of Marie Cochon of Quebec, and Agnes La Croix, widow of Louis Poiset of St. Philipe du Grand Marais, daughter of Francois La Croix and of Barbe Montmeunier, of the parish of St. Joachim in Canada.[2][3]
(Previous death entry was Kaskaskia in 1782, but the JB Chauvin who died in 1782 has parents Joseph Chauvin and Genevieve Rivard. Death Jean Baptiste Chauvin died in 1782 in Kaskaskia, Illinois Country, Nouvelle-France.[4])
