Biography

One genealogist says: "I am thinking that Susan's middle name was PENDLETON, not PEMBERTON...it makes more sense because of the PENDLETON family in the area. I have her b date as 1806, w siblings born 1770, 1785, 1786, 1795, 1796, 1798 and 1808, and her mother as Elizabeth WYERS (1760-1848) and father Thomas O"KELLEY (1750-1818), son of Thamas O'KELLY (1723-1783) Elizaeth DEANE (1717-1790). This is a tough one!"^[1]

Abner Chastain is buried at La Veta Cemetery in La Veta, Huerfano County, Colorado.^[2]

The book Chastain Kith and Kin lists Abner Chastain as a Baptist minister. The book also mentions that he may have lived with his family in northwest Arkansas before moving to Colorado.^[3]
