Pineville Man, 38, Is Killed in Crash Howard J. Charrier, 38, of 309 Sanders street, Pineville, was fatally injured Saturday night when his car was demolished as it crashed out of control off La. Hwy. 1 near Echo. State police said he was dead on arrival at Charity Hospital in Pineville at 6:40 pm. Troopers said Charrier was driving toward Marksville from Alexandria at a high rate of speed. His car traveled four-tenths of a mile after he lost control, a trooper said. It hit the left shoulder of the road and went off into the ditch. The car then hit a culvert and bounced two or three hundred feet before landing near a vacant house. Funeral services were held at graveside at 10 a.m. today at the Echo Catholic cemetery, under direction of Hixson Bros. Funeral home. Survivors are his mother, Mrs. Clemille Charrier of Echo; his wife; a son, Howard J. Jr., a daughter, Shirley Ann Charrier, all of Pineville; three brothers, Herman Charrier of New Orleans, Lawrence Charrier of Houston, Curley Charrier of Pineville; and two sisters, Mrs. Joe Knoll and Mrs. Fred Spears of Echo.
