Blanche Charles, one of the 3 children shown on her mother Muriel I Charles' tombstone, was the mother of Jack Charles, who stated that she was 15 years of age at the time of his birth[1]. However, her 'Australia, Death Index, 1787-1985' record has that she was 42 years of age at the time of her death at Yall in Victoria in 1968, as well as confirming that her mother was Muriel Charles[2]. Jack was born on 5 September 1943, so that she was likely to have been born in 1928 if her age was 15. As the date of her death is when it was registered and without a month given the year 1927 is given in the headings but remains uncertain, as is the location of her birth. As her mother was born and died in New South Wales it might be that Blanche too was born in that State, except that her son Jack was born in Melbourne, Victoria, when her mother was still alive.
