Claude Chappe is Notable.
Claude Chappe was a French inventor who in 1792 demonstrated a practical semaphore system that eventually spanned all of France. This was the first practical telecommunications system of the industrial age, making Chappe the first telecom mogul with his "mechanical internet."
Claude Chappe is one of twins.
Claude, fils d'Ignace Chappe, avocat au Parlement, seigneur d'Auteroche et contrôleur général des domaines du roi au département de Laval, demeurant à Laval, et de Marie Renée Devernay, est né le 25 décembre 1763 et a été baptisé à Brûlon le 26 décembre avec sa soeur jumelle Marie Marthe née le 26. Son parrain était Claude Noüet écuyer et ancien officier de la maison du roi, et sa marraine Madeleine de Delafarge, veuve de Jean Chappe aussi avocat au parlement, demeurant à Mauriac en Haute-Auvergne (les parrain et marraine sont représentés)[1].
