Samuel C. Chapman was born on 19 July 1829 in Ulcombe, Kent, England to Richard Chapman and Mary Chapman (nee Ottaway). [1]
Samuel married Elizabeth Mealing on 10 Jan 1856 in the St. Michaels Church, Christchurch, Canterbury, New Zealand, Together they had 16 Children, six boys, and ten girls
Samuel left Elizabeth with all these children and went to Australia, Samuel then remarried to Ann Maria Hall on 15 March 1893 in Melbourne, [2] and he then stated on his marriage licence he was a widower!! when Elizabeth was still in New Zealand looking after all his children.
Samuel Chapman passed away on 14 July 1910 in Melbourne, aged 75. [3] The death was registered at Footscray.
