Biography

Orpheus Hercules Chandler was born 19 Feb 1904 at Francis, Pontotoc, Chickasaw Nation, Indian Territory[2] , the son of James Chandler and Nettie West. Orpheus passed away 11 Sep 1929 at Francis, Pontotoc, Oklahoma. He is buried at theFrancis Cedar Grove Cemetery, Francis, Pontotoc County, Oklahoma.[3]

Orpheaus Hercules Chandler is the spelling used on Choctaw Enrollment Card and associated documents. The sources listed from the “Oklahoma Applications for Allotment, Five Civilized Tribes, 1899-1907” show the Oklahoma and Indian Territory, Land Allotment Jackets for Five Civilized Tribes, application for allotment affidavit, Choctaw Citizenship Certificate.
