Le seizième jour du mois de janvier 1683 Bertrand Chenay sieur de la Garenne âgé de soixante ans ou environ en la maison du sr Demosny chirurgien demeurant en la basse-ville est décédé en la communion de notre mère la sainte Église après avoir reçu les Sts Sacrements de pénitence, de viatique et d'extrême-onction, duquel le corps a été inhumé le jour suivant dix septième du mois dans le cimetière de cette paroisse et ont assisté à son inhumation mrs Claude Aubert et Denys Roberge, beau-père et beau-frère du défunt, lesquels ont signé. Henri de Bernières was officiating priest, who also signed.[17]
He died in the house of the surgeon Demosny and was buried the next day, having received all sacraments. Present at the funeral were his father-in-law and brother-in-law.
