Biography of Anna CENTANNI ANDOLLINA of 1882

Anna Centanni was born in Alia, Provincia di Palermo, Sicilia, Italia,on November 19, 1882, the daughter of Salvatore Centanni and his wife Louisa Solito. She immigrated to New Orleans as an infant.

Anna Centanni married an Italian immigrant named Epifiano Andollina who was a storekeeper. Together they had eight children:

  1. Mary Andollina, born about 1900, who married Charles Bordes and had up to eight Bordes children.
  2. Johnny Andollina, who married Stella and had two Andollina children:
Epifanio John Andollina
Carol Andollina
  1. Sam Andollina, who died in his twenties, never married.
  2. Matilda "Tillie" Andollina, who married Jack Wells and moved to Ocean Springs, MS, and had no children.
  3. Louise Andollina, who married Frank Holt and moved to Houston, Texas and had no children.
  4. Anna or "Ann" Andollina, who was a lawyer in New Orleans and never married.
  5. Josephine Andollina, who married Mr. DeBenedetto, and had one child, Grace Anna DeBenedetto.
  6. Francis Andollina, who married Helen Burling and had two Andollina children:
  7. Frances Andollina who married Richard Ramos and had three Ramos children.
  8. Lynn John Andollina who married Mary Clare. They have a daughter who married Mr. Mueller and who has given us the information for this page.
  9. Francis Andollina, just an infant when his father died.

Anna Centanni was widowed when Epifano lost his life as a crime victim in his home on Apple Street. "Grandma Andollina" (Anna Centanni) was left to raise the eight children by herself.

The entire family worked in the family grocery store in New Orleans (on Apple Street in the Carrollton section). Anna Centanni Andollina was a really good businesswoman, bought property with the grocery profits, and spoke only Italian to the children.

Anna Centanni Andollina died in 1941 in Metairie, Jefferson Parish, Louisiana.
