Biography
Castenzo Centanni was born on 10 Oct 1874 in Alia, Palermo, Sicily, Italy, son of Antonino Salvadore Centanni (bef. 1829–aft. 1878) and Lucia Chimento (1842– ).[1]
Castenzo immigrated to the United States in 1890, and settled in Kenner, Louisiana.
Castrinzo was in a naturalization record on 4 June 1910 in New Orleans, Louisiana, United States.[2]
In the 1910 census Christ (age 34), Merchant, was the married head of household in Kenner, Jefferson, Louisiana, United States.[3]
Castrenza was in a military record, World War I Draft Registration on 12 Sep 1918 in Jefferson County, Louisiana, United States.[4]
In the 1920 census Chris (age 43), Merchant, was the married head of household in Kenner, Jefferson, Louisiana.[5]
In the 1930 census C (age 54), Proprietor, was the married head of household on Williams Street, Kenner, Jefferson, Louisiana, United States.[6]
In the 1940 census Chris (age 65), General Mechanic, was the married head of household in Kenner, Jefferson, Louisiana.[7]
Castenzo married Maria Centanni, the sister of Rosario "Sido" Centanni. Maria used the nickname Mary. Her maiden and her married name both were Centanni. and she was some degree of cousin to Castenzo. She was age 40 in 1920. She is listed as age 62 in 1940, and her name has been indexed as Marice, but it reads Maria.
Castenzo was a Merchant who owned a grocery store on Williams Street. Chris owned home free and clear by 1920. HIs wife's father also owned a grocery store on Williams Street in Kenner. By 1940, his business was listed as a General Merchandise Retail Store.
Castenzo and Mary had at least five children by 1920:.
- Theresa Centanni, born in 1900, and age 20 in 1920.
- Lillian Centanni, born in 1902, and age 18 in 1920.
- Salvador Centanni, born in 1907, and age 17 in 1920.
- Irene Centanni, born in 1905 and age 15
in 1920. Joseph Centanni, born in 1908 and age 12 in 1920.
Castenzo died (age 71) on 10 November 1945 in Jefferson, Louisiana, United States. Castenzo was mentioned on a memorial in Carrollton Cemetery No. 2, New Orleans, Orleans Parish, Louisiana, United States[1][8]
