In 1759, several years after the explusion of the Acadians, the settlement at Cobequid was renamed Truro, and settled largely by Scotch-Irish Presbyterians. It was the county seat of Colchester County.
On July 1, 1867, at the time of Confederation, Nova Scotia became a Province in Canada.
