Biography

Pietro Cascio is born and baptized on 15 October 1850. His parents are Giuseppe Cascio and Giuseppa Profita. He is named after his paternal grandfather, as is traditional for the first born son. His godparents are Giuseppe Gaglianello and Carmela Profita, a married couple.[1]

Pietro's father, Giuseppe, dies on 31 August 1870 in his home in via San Pietro, Corleone, age 50.

Pietro marries Domenica Mangano on 25 February 1878. This record includes a dispensation for consanguinuity: it is not clear why. This is the first marriage for both of them.

Pietro and Domenica have at least five children together: two sons named Giuseppe (1879 and 1880), Giovanni (1882), Mariano (1884), and Cosimo Damiano (c. 1891).

The first son named Giuseppe dies on 23 July 1879 at three months of age.

Giovanni dies at eight days of age on 8 February 1882.

Mariano is born 2 February 1884, according to the record of his marriage.[2]

Cosimo Damiano, named after a paternal uncle who died in infancy, dies at eight months of age (b. Dec 1891) on 30 July 1892.

Mariano marries Biagia Badami on 24 January 1909. Pietro and Domenica are still living.
