Biography

Minnie (Cassidy) Casey was born in Ireland.

Mary Anne "Minnie" Cassidy was born on 8 October 1866 in Armagh, Ireland.^[1]

Mary Anne Cassidy married Hugh Casey on 1 September 1886 at Armagh Roman Catholic Cathedral in County Armagh (now Northern Ireland).^[2] The marriage record states that Mary Anne Cassidy (age 20), daughter of Thomas Cassidy (deceased), married Hugh Casey (age 22), son of Peter Casey, (living). Witnesses were James Hughes and Maggie Cassidy.

She passed away on 8 July 1906 in Dundalk, County Louth, Ireland.^{[3] [4] [5]}

Her death registration record states that Mary Casey, was the wife of a cattle dealer. Her cause of death was listed as tuberculosis of the lungs (two years), with exhaustion as a contributory factor. The informant was Ann Goodman of Chapel Lane, no explanation of relationship is noted, however, According to her Death Notice in the Dundalk Democrat, Edward Goodman was a pall bearer at her funeral. The others were Bernard Hamill, J. M. Johnson, James McCourt, Patrick Mathews and Alex Watters. ^[4]

Research Notes

• On the 1901 Census, "Anne Cassedy" age 58, is listed as a member of Minnie and Hugh Casey's household, and the relationship to head of household is given as "relative" and her relationship status is given as "Widow" — possibly mother? Might be sister.
