Biography

Brigitta Cascio is born and baptized on 18 October 1810, named after her paternal grandmother, as is traditional for the first born daughter. She is the first child born to Giuseppe Cascio and Giuseppa Saccaro. Her godparents are Paolo and Antonia Fontanezza, a married couple.

Brigitta marries Andrea Pollara on January 18, 1835. Brigitta and Andrea have six known children: two sons named Francesco (1836 and 1845), Giuseppa (1840), Biagia (1843), Lucia (1849), and Leoluca (1854).

The first son named Francesco, after his paternal grandfather, is born and baptized on 17 January 1836. His godparents are Salvatore and Vincenza Savona, brother and sister.

Giuseppa, named after her paternal grandmother, is born on 8 May 1840 and baptized two days later. Her godparents are Giovanni and Carmela Rizzo, brother and sister.

Biagia is born and baptized on 23 March 1843. Her godparents are Vincenzo Provenzano and Maria Cascio, who are not married.

Francesco dies at age eight (b. 1837) on 16 July 1845.

The second son named Francesco is born and baptized later that same year, on 11 November 1845. His godparents are Francesco Paolo Cinquemani and Gaetana Cascio.

Brigitta takes in Bernardo, born of unknown parents and baptized on 3 July 1846. His godparents are Bernardo di Palermo and Brigitta Castro, wife of Andrea Pollara. Bernardo is taken in and sustained by his godmother.

Lucia is born and baptized on 3 September 1849. Her godparents are Vito d'Aguanno and Rosa d'Aprile, a married couple.

Brigitta takes in Paolo, who is born of unknown parents and baptized on 23 June 1852. His godparents are Giovanni Zangara and Maria Costa. He is taken in and sustained by Brigitta Cascio, wife of Andrea Pollara, in the S. Elena quarter of Corleone.

Angelo, the son of unknown parents and in the care of the wet nurse Brigitta Cascio, dies on 24 June 1852.

Leoluca is born and baptized Leonemlucam on 10 June 1854. His godparents are Bernardus and Antonina di Miceli, who are unmarried.

Paola, the daughter of unknown parents and in the care of the wet nurse Brigitta Cascio, dies on 13 August 1854.

Lucia dies on 10 November 1859 at ten years of age.

Giuseppa marries Biagio Vintaloro on 27 October 1862. According to this record, both her parents are still living at this time.

Leoluca dies at age nine (b. 1854) on 6 September 1863.

Brigitta dies, reportedly at age 40 (she is 53) on 16 October 1863. Andrea survives her.

Andrea dies in April 1873, the widower of Brigitta Cascio.

The second Francesco marries Bernarda L'Ala on 9 November 1873. He dies five years later, at age 33 (b. 1845), on 2 December 1878. Bernarda survives him.
